Wee Folk Schedule

There are two different and distinct areas within the Wee Folk Area. The first is the Wendy’s Wee Folk Area, featuring free activities, entertainment and crafts.

The second, the Pot O'Gold Playland area, where, for a $10 Wristband, kids can play on the inflatable, try their own hands at mini-Gaelic games or attempt to reach the top of the large climbing wall.

Candace Mazur-Darman – The Devilment of Darby O’Gill 
Green cloaked Wee Folk meet their match in the rouge-rapscallion, Darby O’Gill follying the King of Sleive-na-mon.  Come join an interactive storytellin’ for audacious young romancers.

Ceili McDaniel – Keltic for Kids
Celi McDaniel presents her original Celtic tunes for kids of all ages.  That Celtic with a “K”!  Featuring jigs and reels like “The Cat from Ireland.”  Learn more about Ceili McDaniel at www.16crayons.com.

Cindy Matyi – Little Town of Spirals
Cindy Matyi's work is known internationally.  She has exhibited her paintings in the United States, Canada and Europe.  She gives workshops in Celtic Art to students of all ages and recently published a children's book "Little Town of Spirals.”

Frank McGarvey – Storyteller
In his seventeen years of sharing his stories he has told throughout Central Ohio, Indianapolis and Cincinnati. He just returned from telling spooky tales at the Faye B. Kaigler Children’s Book Festival at Southern Mississippi University.  In addition, Frank has told stories at the Southern Ohio Storytelling Festival.  He enjoys telling in schools and libraries in an effort to encourage children to read.

John Locke – Storyteller
John Locke is a professional storyteller who came to the USA from Wales in the United Kingdom, a Celtic land. He tells his own stories and many he has gathered along the way. When John tells a story, you will feel as if you are part of that story. Be it ghosts or dreams, they are all here.

Julie McGhee – Storyteller
As an educator for 31 years in both Columbus public and parochial schools Julie is now a storyteller continuing to build the bridges of stories linking peoples, generations and cultures. Julie has been a storyteller for the eight years telling for schools, libraries, festivals, community groups, as Julie, and as an 10th Century Herb Woman, Idnat.

There is an old proverb which says, Words do not have wings yet they can travel thousands of miles.  Julie tries tobring a treasure into your life – the riches of stories with the words that may have traveled a long distance to reach you as well as the stories coming from right here in Central Ohio.

Marian Funk – Storyteller
Join Marian Funk for Irish dancing fun.  Her accordion moves your feet and brings the smiles to all.

Michael O’Malley – Storyteller
Michael charms audiences with his Tales of Ireland. Irish folk legends, Celtic myths, original family stories, and tales of Michael’s travels in Ireland provide audiences with a rich mixture of magical, mystical, merry, and moving tales. Michael recently released the book “An Irish Tale, Tom Moore and the Seal Woman.”

The Irish are known as storytellers with vivid imaginations and Michael honors this heritage. So set a spark to the Irish peat fire and Michael will spark your imagination as he revives the ancient Irish art of the tale well told. Open your ears and open your heart to the charm of Michael’s Irish Tales. Be enchanted.

Pirate MacGregor
Pirate MacGregor and Mary Reed have enchanted thousands of audiences with their tales from the high seas.  MacGregor were found off the North East coast several years ago. After being frozen in an iceberg, Pirate MacGregor has returned to the 21st century to tell his tales of pirates and history. Pirate MacGregor  and Mary Reed fill audiences with laughter, suspense, and joy as they reenact their extraordinary adventures.  Arrrghhh Matey!

Ross and MacKenzie – Mighty Music & Games of the Irish Countryside

Laura MacKenzie and Ross have been performing together for aeons, appearing at festivals and concert halls as well as schools and community centers.  Their musical chemistry is an amalgam of the warmth, humor and understanding gained through many years in traditional music. 

Ross & MacKenzie specialize in concerts of Scottish music (with an Irish element as well) and in family programs, which can include Irish, Scottish and English song-games
Their shows feature Ross’s gorgeous voice, Laura’s amazing array of traditional wind instruments (including flutes, whistles, bagpipes and concertina) and their exquisite vocal duets. 

Ross & MacKenzie have performed at the Dublin Irish Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Milwaukee Irish Fest and an numerous other festivals, fairs and concert halls, presenting the balladry of Scotland, songs of Robert Burns, and dance tunes of the Scottish and Irish countrysides.

Ross Sutter – Family Bones and Bodhran for Beginners

Ross Sutter has built his reputation with fresh interpretations of Irish and Scottish song and ballads and with his unique repertoire of children's music. Ross has performed at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Milwaukee Irish Fest been the mainstay of the children's stage at the Minnesota Irish Fair since the beginning of that festival. For over twenty-five years Ross has been touring to schools all over the Midwest teaching children Irish songs and games. He has made a recording of his Irish and Scottish children’s songs entitled "Mama Will You Buy Me a Banana?" This is Ross' third appearance at the Dublin Irish Festival with Laura MacKenzie.

Sit back and enjoy the craic!  For the life spent idr dha dTir, between the two worlds of Ireland and the United States, Yvonne Healy offers an intoxicating mix of theater and culture.  Weird Irish legends, outrageous family lore, riveting history, or participatory kids’ tales engage audiences from Canada to the Carolinas and California to the U.K. Healy didn’t kiss the Blarney Stone; she swallowed it. 

Born across the water, Healy grew up steeped in Irish culture on an American Main Street.  Visits back and forth kept the oral tradition strong.  Whether it’s blarney or beyond, Audiofile Magazine says this citizen of both “…is unafraid to amuse her listeners in every way possible.”
