2021 Dublin Irish Festival Scholarship Recipients

(Dublin, OH) — The Dublin Irish Festival is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2021 Dublin Irish Festival Volunteer Scholarship. This year’s recipients are Tommy Squier and Unni Sheram. The two students will both receive $2,500 cash scholarships.

The Dublin Irish Festival scholarship is awarded each year to graduating high school seniors who have shown exceptional community involvement as Dublin Irish Festival volunteers. They were chosen from a pool of applicants by a selection committee of festival leaders and former scholarship recipients.

Thomas “Tommy” Squier has volunteered at the Dublin Irish Festival since 2016 at the suggestion of family members. Since then, he has served in various roles in areas such as Bicycle Parking, Entertainer Hospitality and the Information Tents. He has especially enjoyed the camaraderie among all volunteers at the event and learning about himself, the event and his community. No stranger to volunteerism, Tommy is also very involved at his church in the children’s program and worship ministry. He has also served at other volunteer events for the City of Dublin. Upon graduation from Dublin Coffman High School, he will be attending Cedarville University majoring in allied health with a focus on physical therapy.

Unni Sheram has volunteered for the Dublin Irish Festival since the age of 11. She has helped in many volunteer capacities, including Merchandise Sales, Ticket Sales, Information Tent, Admission Gates and in Wee Folk Crafts. Volunteering is a significant part of Unni’s life, as she also is on the volunteer teams at COSI, the Columbus Metropolitan Library and her dance school, Silambam. While many people volunteer to give back to their community, Unni feels it makes you a vital part of your own community. She plans to continue in service as a volunteer for years to come. After graduating from Dublin Coffman High School, she will be attending The Ohio State University majoring in mathematics.
