2020 DIF Scholarship Recipients Announced

"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire."

William Butler Yeats

We believe in giving back to the extraordinary community of volunteers who ignite their community spirit for our signature international event. The Dublin Irish Festival is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2020 Dublin Irish Festival Volunteer Scholarship – Anushka Das and Pransanjit Sahoo, each of whom will receive $2,500 cash scholarships.

The Dublin Irish Festival scholarship is awarded each year to graduating high school seniors who have shown exceptional community involvement as Dublin Irish Festival volunteers. They were chosen from a pool of applicants by a Selection Committee of festival leaders and former scholarship recipients.

Anushka Das has volunteered for the Festival for the last five years. She said, “Volunteering at the Irish Festival made me feel welcomed to the community, allowed me to develop my leadership and communication skills and gave me a chance to thank Dublin for all it has given me.” She will be attending The Ohio State University with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy, Politics and Economics.

Prasanjit Sahoo started volunteering for the Festival in seventh grade and has worked in the Wendy’s Wee Folk area each year. Prasanjit said that his creativity, organizational skills and communication were enhanced by his involvement at the Festival. He will be attending The Ohio State University to pursue a career in the medical field.

Our congratulations to Anushka and Prasanjit and all Dublin Irish Festival volunteer graduating high school seniors who will move on to pursue their bright futures this fall and beyond!
