Dublin Irish Festival Announces 2008 Emerald Club Scholarship Winners
Dublin, Ohio (April 2008) - The Dublin Irish Festival has announced that Kelly Boylan from Bishop Watterson High School, and Emily Kieffer of Dublin Coffman High School, were selected from among a prestigious group of candidates to be the recipients of the Dublin Irish Festival Emerald Club scholarships.
Funded from Emerald Club membership fees, the scholarships will be awarded annually to two graduating high school seniors, who have shown support for The Dublin Irish Festival as a volunteer, performer or loyal guest.
In a letter of recommendation for Boylan, John Timm of Richens/Timm Academy of Irish Dance said, “I have watched Kelly mature into a graceful and accomplished dancer as well as a responsible young adult.”
A 10-year performer at the Dublin Irish Festival, Boylan has performed in front of thousands of guests. In addition to performing, Boylan has also been a loyal guest of the Dublin Irish Festival for 14 years. She is also very active with her swim and dance teams and is a member of National Honor Society. She plans to attend Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Kieffer has been involved with the Dublin Irish Festival for over five years as a volunteer and loyal guest. Her service does not stop there. Kieffer is also very involved within the Dublin Community through activities such as Student Government, Teen Institute, and various community service organizations.
Coffman High School Social Studies teacher Kristin Bixby said, “Emily’s character and personality are truly what make her such an outstanding student and person.” Kieffer plans to attend Saint Mary’s College in Indiana.
