2015 Dublin Irish Festival Scholarship Winners Announced

Festival Facts:

  • The Dublin Irish Festival has announced the two winners of the 2015 Dublin Irish Festival Scholarships. Joseph Myers from Bishop Watterson High School and Clare Wilsbacher from Dublin Jerome High School will both receive $2,500 cash scholarships.
  • The Dublin Irish Festival Scholarship is awarded each year to graduating high school seniors who have shown exceptional community involvement as Dublin Irish Festival volunteers.
  • Joseph Myers has worked as an active volunteer for the Dublin Irish Festival for 11 years. Joseph has served the Festival at the Wendy’s Wee Folk Area and later transferred to Beverage Distribution where he is a three-year member of the Beverage Distribution Committee. He is also an active volunteer with the Columbus Youth and Family Center and is a volunteer football coach for St. Brigid of Kildare School. He will attend the University of Dayton this fall to pursue a major in Biochemistry and Political Science.
  • Clare Wilsbacher began her volunteer experience with the Dublin Irish Festival nine years ago. She has volunteered in numerous capacities including the Wendy’s Wee Folk area, the Admissions Gate and in Entertainer Hospitality. Clare also volunteers for the Arthritis Foundation and St. Joan of Arc Church. She will attend Purdue University this fall and pursue a degree in Nuclear Engineering.

  • Strap on your running shoes and kick off the event at the annual IGS Energy/Dublin Irish Festival 5K and Kids Dash on Thursday, July 30 at 7 p.m. More than 1,100 runners are expected to take to the streets to celebrate the start of the Festival.
